These are generic 'photography paintings'. I think these arise from the contingencies created today by a digital world
on the pictorial languages of depicting reality. photography was once regarded as an authentic vision of reality.
it was supposed to bring 'truth' in front of eyes. photography had been widely used in journalism and all other authenticating mechanisms of our social life. but photography also fragmented an blurred itself easily at many aesthetic contexts. techniques of blurring are widely used in films and other artistic portrayals of reality. And once it is again translated into a painterly language as done here, thats about a recycling of values of reality. there is a significant recycling of visual effects from reality to painting then to photography then back into reality and towards painting again that has happened in history of art and humanity. there are some artists in contemporary art today who critically interrogate reality through a penchant selection of visuals especially from media images reflecting international politics and other humanitarian issues. but some use this for its aesthetic and visual effect alone. Dr. Mohan is treating his painterliness in that latter vein.

The attitude to probe into the intricacies of nature around and the nature of human psyche is the force that helps one see and express things in line and colours. The green patches, shades of foggy memories, grand romantic landscape imagined in terms of primary hues are creating a visual impact in Dr.Mohan's paintings. The solitude of the self, the flamy dream/nightmare in warm colours, the impressionist patches, the velvety green are significantly standardised consciously by the artist.Perhaps without philosiphising overtly Dr. Mohan visually states the umbilical relation between nature and the human psyche.Fragmented as well as flowy patterns can be carried together in one's mind if the spirituality of nature and the awareness of the reality are not perceived as opposite forces..

Abberation in the melody of nature crumbles the whole system, but even those broken realities resurrect to ascertain the everlasting enigma of existence.Dr.Mohan's paintings do not show any depressive tones.Balanced and violent, narrative and non-narrative,descriptive and synoptic, figurative and abstract are the dichotamies very often one feels in the common visual renderings. But Dr.Mohan's works are suggestive, sober and never agressive though the life is always enigmatic.the reality and the supposed are blended together in tune with the existence of flora and fauna in relation with the human life..Keeping the tangibility of the primary colours Dr.Mohan substantiates the world of inner aspirations. The two dimentional prominence and the abrupt stoppage of the recession of space are articulated to keep the works always foreground and middle ground specific.
